Located on the banks of the Hudson River in historic downtown Poughkeepsie, the Children's Museum is conveniently located only steps from the Poughkeepsie Station! Outside the Museum there are picnic areas, a skate board park, and the Walkway Over the Hudson Historic State Park.

At the Museum, every exhibit is interactive, allowing little hands and growing minds to explore, play, and learn. There are two floors of hands-on exhibits and play spaces. Some of the exhibits include: RiverTown, a multicultural interactive village, "Little Sprouts Farm", the Hyde Park Mastodon Ice Age to Today, A Hudson River Water Play Table and WKID Radio Station!

The Museum also features many special events and programs for families such as Celebrate Summer this Friday, June 24, 2011, this event is the areas official summer kick -off event, featuring outdoor and indoor games, performances and activities. Workshops, special presentations, and performances such as puppet shows and children's theater are also held throughout the year and on select holidays such as Columbus Day and Veteran's Day. Summer Camp, Playgroups, Birthday Parties and private Facility Rentals also are available.
