New LIRR Timetables in Effect Nov. 15

Changes Include Addition of Friday Afternoon "Sundown Service" onPort Washington & Far Rockaway Branches as well as Adjustments toAccommodate Track Work

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables go into effect Monday,November 15. The new schedules include additional eastbound"Sundown" trains on Friday afternoons on the Port Washingtonand Far Rockaway branches for those who must be home before sundown forreligious purposes. There are also adjustments of 1 to 3 minutes onmidday, weekday trains along the Main Line (Oyster Bay, Huntington andRonkonkoma Branches) due to track work.

In response to customer requests, Sundown Service is once again beingprovided on the Far Rockaway Branch and being offered for the first timeon the Port Washington Branch to assist those who must be home bysundown over the next few months - November through March - when sunsetoccurs earlier.

Sundown Service:

Port Washington Branch

The LIRR will introduce a Friday-only train on the Port WashingtonBranch, starting Friday, November 19 and continuing through early March,in order to provide sundown service during the winter, when the sun setsearly. The new Friday-only train will depart Penn Station at 3:18 PM andwill make all local stops to Port Washington, arriving at 4:03 PM.

Far Rockaway Branch

Friday-only sundown service will resume on the Far Rockaway Branch onNovember 19. Sundown service trains leave Atlantic Terminal in Brooklynat 2:35 PM and Penn Station at 2:39 PM, connecting with the 3:04 PMtrain from Jamaica, arriving in Far Rockaway at 3:46 PM.

Montauk Branch added station stop

Beginning with the November 15 timetable change, the eastbound 4:06 PMtrain from Hunterspoint Avenue to Montauk (which runs Friday-only andWednesday, November 24) will have an added stop at Hampton Bays at 5:49PM.

Track work adjustments:

Oyster Bay, Huntington, Ronkonkoma Branches

On weekdays, midday trains are adjusted 1 to 3 minutes to accommodatetrack work on the Main Line between Merillon Ave. and Carle Place.
