The new year is almost upon us, and no place is more iconic for New Year's revelry than New York City. To help you enjoy the fun, trains and buses will operate on special schedules during the New Year’s holiday weekend, with lots of extra service to help customers enjoy the three-day weekend and celebrate the New Year.
Metro-North has your ticket to a safe and convenient way to travel during the New Year’s Eve weekend. The railroad d is offering expanded service to and from Grand Central Terminal all day long on Sunday, December 31 and into the wee hours for New Year's Eve for celebrants traveling to the Big Apple to ring in 2018.
With the new year almost upon us, Long Island Rail Road is ready to help customers ring in the New Year in the most iconic New Year's destination in the world with extra train service for the extended holiday weekend, beginning with additional eastbound trains to accommodate customers leaving work early on Friday, December 29. The railroad will also run additional westbound trains on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, for revelers heading to the city to celebrate, as well as extra service early New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2018, to get partygoers safely back home.

In order to accommodate the large number of customers leaving work early to get a head start on their holiday weekend, 13 trains will be added from Penn Station to its regular eastbound afternoon schedule on Friday, December 22.
The MTA wants to wish all customers a safe and happy holiday, and let you know that trains and buses will operate on special schedules during the long Christmas weekend. The MTA Board has approved a $91.5 million design-build contract to the firm Halmar International to make state-of-the-art enhancements to five stations, setting the stage for similar improvements to other Metro-North stations in the future. Construction gets underway in early 2018.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board has approved a design-build contract with 3rd Track Constructors (3TC), to complete the design and construction of the crucial Long Island Rail Road Expansion Project. Several expert firms have joined together to form 3TC, including Dragados USA, Inc., John P. Picone Inc., CCA Civil, Inc., and Halmar International LLC, with Stantec as the design professional, as well as Cameron Engineering, and Rubenstein Associates leading the community outreach team.

As a result of Amtrak’s previously announced track work at Penn Station to take place beginning January 5, MTA Long Island Rail Road has announced that it will reroute five of the 98 morning rush hour trains that normally go to Penn Station and three of the 86 evening rush hour trains that normally depart from Penn Station.
